Rajendra Pawar ( Founder & Managing Director )
Navjeevan Gramodaya Pratishistan, established in 1994, works as per a sustainable development model with the poor at the centre of its focus. They tackle various challenges in the path of both rural and urban development and also focus on proper management of Natural Resources mainly by watershed development. Healthcare and education as well as the development of livelihood for the deprived and subjugated sections of the society is another set of goals that the NGO seeks to meet.
They work mainly in the areas of Child Protection and their Rights, Women Empowerment, Accessibility of Quality Education, Health and Sanitation as well as Environmental concerns. The NGO tackles the issues of unemployment and water scarcity side by side as they had begun their work, at first from Self-help Groups then to orphanages and finally to watershed development and farmer training programmes. In this initiative, they have been able to finish multiple commitments by successfully orchestrating water conservation treatments like tree plantation, rain-fed and irrigated horticulture, CCT, Dams, Water Soaking Trenches etc influenced by the spirit of Mahatma Gandhiji’s concept of Shramdan.
Rallies for awareness of conservation of the environment and organizing large scale plantation drives are a part of this sector. Furthermore, they also conduct eye check-up camps, blood donation camps, seminars regarding diseases like HIV-AIDS and arrange a strict ambulance service on a no-profit and no loss basis. The organization also runs an orphanage and an English medium school, bringing forth children from all stages of life to participate in the unique activity called Balmahotsav. They also take care of economic expenses through scholarships for children who clear boards with good results.
Having benefited the lives of over 65000 people, the organization mainly focuses on the lowest strata of the society – the vulnerable, the subjugated women population, exploited children and the infirm. The NGO takes them through a journey of economic, cultural, economic and personal development; helping the people thrive in the fast-paced society.
