Mr. Omkar Singh ( Founder & Managing Director )

From the Founder’s Diary

Mr. Omkar Singh, founder of Lal Bahadur Shastri Sudarshan Orphan Home has himself seen many struggles in his personal life. An advocate by profession, Mr. Singh has faced many financial shortages due to his social cause but has never surrendered to them. He continued to care for all the children’s wellbeing in the orphan home despite many struggles. Mr. Singh once witnessed a child, a stray dog together eating off a dustbin— that lay bare in front of him the true face of poverty and in our society, and that dreadful image of harsh reality pushed him to lay the foundation for Lal Bahadur Shastri Sudarshan Orphan Home. Mr. Singh believes it is the moral duty of every sensible human and responsible citizen to care for those who do not have an iota of hope or opportunities available in front of them. Another valued personality of the NGO, who helped to take the mission and vision to the next level is Mr. Harendra Kumar. He has been associated with the NGO since 2008 and officially became an Education Director of the NGO in the year 2014. It is rightly said that some incidents have the power to change you from within and inspire you to do something you never thought of doing. This is exactly what happened with Mr. Harendra. One day his sister lost her way home and he struggled hard to find her, luckily, he got her to some other village but one thing struck him hard. How hard would it be for the kids who couldn't get back home! That was the time he decided to join Lal Bahadur Shastri Orphan Home and have been a backbone to the NGO since then.

A lot of children, women and youth are devoid of a window of opportunities to only aspire for the bare minimum; to respond to this question of scarcity of chances, that is staring at the face of our society, Lal Bahadur Shastri Sudarshan Orphan Home was founded in 2006.

Situated in Vasundhara, Uttar Pradesh, Lal Bahadur Shastri Sudarshan Orphan Home runs an educational institution, an orphanage home and many programmes like beautician training courses, Mehendi application and embroidery to encourage the idea of financial stability and the idea of income generation. Lal Bahadur Shastri Sudarshan Orphan Home takes those children under its wing and cares for those who come from absolute poverty or whose parents have deserted them. The organisation is run by a trust and it gives the children a new direction in their lives by opening a plethora of opportunities in the form of education in front of them. Lal Bahadur Shastri Sudarshan Orphan Home runs a school called Lal Bahadur Shastri Bal Vatika, established in 2007, and ensures a systematic education process of its children in the care of the organisation.

Currently, there are 700 children enrolled in the school run by the organisation. Among these children, there are many who have seen inexplicably dark days and dire circumstances before coming to Lal Bahadur Shastri Sudarshan Orphan Home, some victims of impoverishment and some of the human trafficking. Lal Bahadur Shastri Sudarshan Orphan Home hopes to create a safe haven for all children and provide them with education and care to last a lifetime! With the collaborative efforts, the NGO is also planning to establish a hospital for kids where they will get treated free of cost.
