Abdul Rashid Hanjura ( Founder & Managing Director )
Abdul Rashid Hanjura, the founder of the NGO, is a practising lawyer with 39 years of practice at Bar Association and is a social activist with 30 years of experience in the field of social work. He has qualifications of B.A LLB diploma in journalism and has established many voluntary organizations youth club and orphanages school and has been president of the Bar Association. Having participated in many national and international seminars workshops, he has written books in Urdu, Kashmiri, and English languages and has obtained many national and international local awards. Mr Rashid is a renowned philanthropic person in Kashmir with a good reputation. He has been a member of dozens of government bodies, committees, etc. He has been running campaigns for child rights and women's rights. He is a dedicated and peace-loving person.
Islamic Relief and Research Trust Kashmir was established in the year 2000. It works with an objective to uplift the downtrodden sections of society. It aims to transform conflict into peace to ensure communal harmony and faith-based reconciliation. The NGO also aims to establish and run orphanage schools in order to impart modern education to orphans that are neglected. The NGO not only promotes culture and language but also focuses on preserving heritage. One of its goals is to establish and run vocational training centres for poor girls and to have daycare centres and shelter homes for widows and senior citizens.
The NGO focuses on making the generation aware pertaining to child rights, women empowerment, and much more. It has organized seminars and workshops in schools, colleges, and universities. Along with that, the NGO is also involved in the education of displaced children and has established community tuition centres and during the flood of 2014, it worked for the relief and rehabilitation of thousands of affected people in partnership with national and international NGOs. It has completed two projects in partnership with Mercy Corps, the USA for youth entrepreneurship and for the production of potato seeds within the result of twelve days. The NGO also adopted villages of two districts, Budgam and Shopian and 1300 families got benefit out of it.
