From the Founder’s Diary

The idea of a vision for the promotion of the lives of indigenous peoples of India was actualised in 1948, by the eminent social worker Mr. Amritlal Vithaldas Thakkar, lovingly addressed as Thakkar Bappa. The first Founder-President of Bharatiya Adim Jati Sevak Sangh was also India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Two of the best minds in the nascent years of independent India came together to address a social issue that needed immediate attention, that is the welfare and development of the many indigenous people, belonging to various tribes. The vision of the founding fathers of Bharatiya Adim Jati Sevak Sangh was matched and the baton bearing the social responsibility of progressing the social cause was forwarded by many; the current President of Bharatiya Adim Jati Sevak Sangh is former Deputy Speaker of India, Mr. Kariya Munda.

Bharatiya Adim Jati Sevak Sangh is a stalwart of an institution in itself, having served humanity on Gandhian principles since 1948. A journey that had started immediately after the historic event of India’s Independence, Bharatiya Adim Jati Sevak Sangh has tirelessly made efforts towards a holistic development and empowerment of the huge indegenious peoples’ population of India. Bharatiya Adim Jati Sevak Sangh was formed with the vision of incorporating educational and social values among the people living in marginalised sections of the society, with scarce opportunities.

Located in Bandgaon, Jharkhand, Bharatiya Adim Jati Sevak Sangh runs an educational institution which classes spanning from Class I to X, and hosts approximately a total of 235 children. The children are imparted free education by a faculty comprising 15 teachers and are taught a syllabus as prescribed by Jharkhand State Board. Bharatiya Adim Jati Sevak Sangh also provides the children in their care with textbooks and uniforms.

Bharatiya Adim Jati Sevak Sangh has had a lustrous history of grooming star sportspersons in the fields of hockey and football, and it continues to train talented sports enthusiasts who eventually find their rightful places in Jharkhand state hockey team. The organisation believes in approaching social welfare from various perspectives and has managed to consistently uplift values of humanism and plurality.
